Wet and hungry meerkat

So first and foremost, I'm sorry I don't have spectacular pictures of my meerkat soaking wet and pathetic looking. It took both me and Moni to bathe her; one holding one lathering. So we couldn't get good pictures. I have a few of her in a towel and I will share those.

Also, I don't recommend bathing a cat. She was screaming at the top of her little kitten lungs and was shaking for a good hour afterwards. I felt so bad but she still loves us so I think we are forgiven.
She's only a little scraggly looking here. And pissed.

Besides that nothing too exciting has happened. I'm looking for a second job because I'm not  making enough for bills right now and I'm getting frustrated at Blondie's. The people are nice but it is young and hasn't found its niche yet and the management is young and needs to figure things out.

Moni has a few more interviews. Another one for SSM and had one for Macy's make up consultant that we are waiting for a second call back. Mostly, both of us are getting cabin fever and want out.

We bought Agnes a new toy! It's quite funny watching her play with it.

She mostly likes to sit on it and feel superior to the machine.

That's basically all I have for now, we are waiting on the cabinet guys. The day we moved in we told the office that the guest bathroom vanity was all molded out. Well they cleaned it until we could get a replacement, which was nice but we waited a few weeks before they measured it and then a few more until it was delivered and it is the wrong size. So the guys from the ACTUAL store came in because the maintenance guys here weren't doing their job and took it away but forgot to get correct measurements so Jake is going to give them an earful today. It's been a month and a half.

I want to leave on a happy note so here is a picture of Agnes begging for breakfast this morning. Who knew meerkats liked eggs?

Meertkats and Michael Symon part 2

I think I ran out of room, sorry!

Any way. I got a drink of Jack Daniels and some spices and other stuff, and it was fabulous. Jake ordered us an appetizer of Roasted Eggplant Dip. He likes it because it doesn't taste like eggplant.
It was served with fresh made naan like bread. So good.

Next were the entrees. We both got the special, me the seafood (WEIRD right???) and Jake the daily. We went on a Tuesday, and every Tuesday the have a pit in the back at smoke a whole pig all day long. Not surprising that Jake got it. It was deliccious. I grabbed a quick bite and snapped a picture before Jake could inhale it, and inhale he did.

But my dish was phenomenal. I got the pan seared Alaskan halibut with an asparagus puree some sort of buttery deliciousness and some type of mushroom that even I devoured. I started off tasting each of the components before trying it as a whole. Each was a beautiful bite of flavor in my mouth perfectly seasoned and made. Then I tried it as a whole. *Pause for dramatic effect* It was a symphony. Every flavor that was so perfect on its own came together with the other flavors and my mouth sang! It was perfection on a plate. Every bit of the food was gone when I was done each bite as transcendent as the first. I didn't leave anything out. Not only did the food make my mouth sing but it was light and filling at the same time. I wasn't stuffed, I was (un)happily full. Unhappily because there was nothing left to eat and the dinner was over, but happy because it was the best meal of my life.
I chose a side of brussel sprouts, my favorite vegi. They are in the background of the picture and were equally as amazing as the food. The were baked, I think, which made them super crispy and had wallnuts mixed in and seasoned with anchovies. It was not at all fishy bust slightly salty.  Needless to say I ate everything in that dish too.

And because I have a sweet tooth, and after a meal like that I wanted to eat everything else Chef Symon has made we ordered dessert. We got a berry trifle with is like a layer cake of goodness. It's hard to explain so I will just show you the picture.

It was light and slightly sweet but not so much that it didn't fulfill the need for sweet.

I can still taste my meal when I think about it. I may just have to go back, several times.

Well now I have to do laundry, make lunch, and bathe the cat. Don't worry I will post pictures of her wet and forlorn.

Meerkats and Michael Symon part 1

As I am typing today Anges is napping on my chest. She's a weird one that cat.

Anyway, I haven't written anything in a while because I don't feel as if I have much to say. It's been about a month since we've moved and we are starting to get into  our groove, but not completely. Monica is still looking for a job and I am still looking for a second one. Right now I'm in the midst of checking in with Father about a job at a Gelateria and I will keep you updated on where that goes if anywhere. Meanwhile Agnes just perched herself on my shoulder, I had no idea I adopted a parrot.

Agnes is however a Meerkat I have proof

She sit like that frequently. She got declawed last week and I don't know if that has anything to do with this new found weirdness or not but she is healing well so we think she's just odd. She also LOVES yogurt and again, I have proof.
She is quite the beggar.

Any way, enough about Agnes. Jake and I went to Cleveland last week. We stopped home for a night and it was wonderful! I got to see my family and do all the things in Toledo that I had missed, surprisingly including Packo's. Yes I craved Packo's! I am forever ruined for normal dogs thanks to the delicious sausages I've come to know and love. We went to the Zoo and I got to see the creapy big bird and the cow eating Crock. Most importantly I got time to see my family. I never would have guess how much I would miss living with them all. But, being alone in the apartment is a little weird because at home there is almost always some one there.

Agnes is now back on my chest and partially in my shirt.

After spending the wonderful time with my family Jake and I left for his last training in Cleveland. He bribed me into going with the promise of Chef Michael Symon's food. Chef Symon is my favorite of all the Iron Chefs and is also a host on The Chew. So the first night we went to the B Spot, which is Burgers, Burban, Beer, and pickles but that doesn't start with B. It was delicious. The atmosphere was really relaxed and kinda funky with tattooed servers and a beer bottle cap wall.

Daily Special: Black and Blue Burger (Bacon, Blue cheese...)

And Lola Fries. Pulled pork, jalapenos, and cheese wiz.

We also got a stake at the end of it all, a Ginger Peach one, but I was too excited to drink it to remember to take a picture. The Lola Fries were to die for and the burger was run-down-your-face kind of juicy. So far Chef Symon I was impressed.

We went to a Hibachi the next night where I got to meet some of the guys and Jake got shnuckered at bowling afterwards.

The next night I had the best food I have ever eaten in my entire life!! It was so good I had to call Mom and Dad and tell them all about it because Jake wasn't enthusiastic enough for me. We ate at Lolita, another Chef Symon restaurant and the one I've been waiting for. So I'm going to tell you all about, be prepared to get hungry.

Lolita is situated on the corner of a residential University block with college kids milling about outside. The decor is funky elegant. Sweatpants would not be welcome but nice jeans and a good shirt fit right in. Again most of the servers have tattoos and will gladly show them off. We sat in a raised area with rustic chic tables and chairs and butterfly lighting. Not kidding. It made me giggle.

Cuddles and Claws

So the most exciting thing happened since I last posted. WE GOT A  KITTEN!!! Her name is Agnes. I came home from work one night and Jake and Moni were acting all suspicious and weird. They said they had a few surprises for me, and like Jake he couldn't keep ONE of the secrets and showed me pictures of two adorable puppies. That fell through cause the guy asked us to wire him the money and we didn't feel comfortable with that and instead of offering another option the guy got all fussy and we didn't get the dogs.

The next day I came home after a 7:30 to 2:30 shift, which was boring and awful. And I came home to a KITTEN! She is adorable and sassy and feisty and so cuuutttteee. So here are a few pictures.

nap time with Tia Moni

Nap time in my lap

Playing with her feather toy

Aaaannd more naps

She hates attention when she wants to play, but LOVES cuddling when she wants to nap. Like a cat. And when she wants to play she will climb up on my chest and mew in my neck. It's cute but also scary, because she is prone to scratching and biting since she is still super young.

So before all this kitten nonsense Jake and I went back home for a day and grabbed all the rest of our stuff. We drove through what Jake calls "Jesus rain".... I'm not sure what that means but it was difficult to see at some points. But we made it safe and sound.

When we got back it was still raining, which afforded us time to eat the delicious dinner Moni made for us. Then we asked the neighbors to help, they did and wouldn't take our money for the help so we offered to make them dinner. We barbequed for them and enjoyed company. We thought it would end there, but then they made dinner for us..... *sigh* So it's still going on.

Also we had dinner with some believers and it was wonderful! Unfortunately I work Sunday mornings it seems and so I can't make it to those fellowships but it's wonderful to be around believers. Also I have been calling in to the Remmingtons fellowship, it's wonderful to hear Gods word.

Here is one last picture... she fell asleep on Tia Moni while we were watching Harry Potter
